iRumorMill.com Determination: Hoax
Dr. Ben Carson did not grow up in public housing. This according to a Dec. 6, 2016 article by the Washington Post.
The article said, "A review of Carson's childhood, though, demonstrates that he lived in stand-alone, private houses — albeit not always in economically stable neighborhoods."
The Post reported the source for the allegation stemmed from a Twitter post made by Governor Mike Huckabee.
Huckabee wrote, "Ben Carson is first HUD Sec to have actually lived in gov't housing. Fancy Nancy Pelosi says he's not qualified; is she racist or just dumb?"
Later, Huckabee posted a retraction and apology on his Twitter feed , blaming a fake news site for the incorrect information.
