iRumorMill.com Determination: They made the list, but the U.S. Government Denounced allegations.
According to a November 28, 2014 article by the National Review, CAIR on the list released by the Emirates News Agency. The Muslim American Society also appeared on the list.
National Review is a conservative news and opinion magazine that was founded in 1955 by William F. Buckley.
The article said that a list by the United Arab Emirates’ ministerial cabinet came out on November 15, and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) was "one of 83 proscribed terrorist organizations, up there with the Taliban, al-Qaeda, and ISIS." The list can be found on the Emirates News agency but it is in Arabic and needs to be translated. We have it pasted below in English.
Pipes cited a Fox News interview by anchor/host Bret Baier of Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Foreign Minister. Baier asked the minister about the two American organizations on the list. The minister told Baier, “Our threshold is quite low when we talk about extremism. We cannot accept incitement or funding when we look at some of these organizations. For many countries, the definition of terror is that you have to carry a weapon and terrorize people. For us, it’s much beyond that; we cannot tolerate even the smallest, tiniest amount of terrorism."
The article said that CAIR had many challenges to denounce Hamas and Hezbollah as terrorist groups and although it denounced acts of violence it has yet to speak out against their sponsors. It went on to report that Nihad Awad, CAIR's Executive Director and Founder, "publicly declared his support for Hamas; the Holy Land Foundation (HLF), a Hamas front group, contributed $5,000 to CAIR; in turn, CAIR exploited the 9/11 attacks to raise money for HLF; and, this past August, demonstrators at a CAIR-sponsored rally in Florida proclaimed 'We are Hamas!'”
CAIR posted a statement on its website that called this a "despicable action" and linked a video of the U.S. Government rejection of the labeling.
The Muslim American Society (MAS) released a statement on its website saying that it was shocked the reports claiming that they made the terrorist list. MAS wrote, " Before proceeding any further, we would first like to verify the accuracy of the news reports and receive an official response from the United Arab Emirates regarding the reports. We would also like to seek the help of our government to address this issue."
