Viral video of a conversation with Gabriel Gipe, a high school teacher in Sacramento who decorated his classroom with an Antifa flag and a poster of China's Chairman Mao and said he has hopes of turning students “into revolutionaries.”

The video is real and was posted on YouTube by Project Veritas.

According to KCRA-TV News in Sacramento, "The Natomas Unified School District has put a teacher with Inderkum High School on paid leave and says it is taking steps to fire the teacher for actions the district described as 'inappropriate' and 'irresponsible.'”  This decision came after a school board meeting where parents and leaders of the community "criticized the teacher's actions."

KCRA said that the school district took issue with the following:

"The teacher had used personal money to buy rubber stamps featuring political figures that were used to mark students’ homework. 'These stamps include an inappropriate image of Josef Stalin with an insensitive phrase, as well as other stamps with Fidel Castro, Kim Jung Un and others." The disctrict said, “These were purchased shortly before the pandemic and their use was likely initially limited due to Distance Learning.” 

"The district said the teacher encouraged students to attend civic activities for extra credit, some of which involved protests that at times 'became unsafe.'” The district added, "Not involving parents in sharing those events 'was both unprofessional and irresponsible.'” 

"Some students expressed support for the teacher while others said they were disturbed that the teacher had said he believed students would 'move left as a result of his class.'" The district continued, “That is unacceptable." The district offered an apology to parents, “Students are the ones caught in the middle of this. To those who have felt uncomfortable at any time in the past 3 years, we apologize.”
