The certificate of live birth shown
to the left has been the subject of conspiracy theories since 2008, when Barack
Obama announced his intention to run for the Oval Office.
They rumors questioning Obama's
citizenship and eligibility for the Oval Office were sparked by Philip Berg, an
attorney and Hillary Clinton supporter.
The rumors were enough to spark a
frenzy on the Web and a group of Obama critics questioning the President's
citizenship became known as "birthers."
Sometime throughout the course of the frenzy an Australian birth certificate was
doctored up to look like the Kenyan birth certificate of Barack Obama, which
went viral on the Internet. It was later discovered, that the phoney Kenyan
document from Kenya was ploy released into the Internet by radical supporters of
Barack Obama, perhaps to make conservatives look foolish. This according to a
June 13, 2011 article by World
Net Daily.

Barack Obama's father was not a
U.S. citizen. His mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, was was born on November 29, 1942

According to the U.S. Code, Barack
