iRumorMill.com Determination: Authorship verified - but not a Wall Street Journal article
This article is a January 2, 2010 opinion that as posted on the WARNING SIGNS Blog of Alan Caruba. Other versions have been found in email in-baskets, social media posts and political commentary websites with various modifications, including change of author.
One edit that vent viral is an authorship change to Eddie Sessions and a claim that the story appeared in the Wall Street Journal (WSJ). The closest this version ever made it to the WSJ was a copy of this version in a reader comments section after a real article. This has never been an official WSJ article.
Other versions of this email claim that the article was the cover story on Newsweek magazine. There was a Newsweek article about Obama returning to the campaign trail but it was not written by Caruba. When that iRumor went viral, the subject was "Eddie Sessions Sizes up Obama," but Sessions was not the author of the Newsweek article.
