7-year-old Alex Pring was born with a missing right arm and was presented a brand-new prosthetic arm by Robert Downey Jr, the actor who plays Iron Man/Tony Stark. This according to a March 13, 2015 article by USA Today.
The article said that the superhero-themed arm was made by Manero and manufactured for $350 (U.S.) by means of a three dimensional printer. Similar prostheses traditionally cost patients $40,000. The prosthetic arm allows Alex to pick up objects by detecting bicep movements. It is battery operated and has a charge that will last all day.
Video was posted on the Internet and went viral on social media later in October.
