iRumorMill.com Determination: Real
The boycott is real and was organized by the American Family Association (AFA), a conservative activist non-profit organization that protects traditional values.
According to an Apr. 25, 2016 article by National Public Radio (NPR), "More than 550,000 people have signed a pledge to boycott Target over its restroom and dressing-room policy."
This issue vent viral over the land when rock star, Bruce Springsteen, announced the cancellation of a concert in North Carolina because of HB2, a bill that forbids the use of public restrooms designated for members of the opposite sex. The cancellation prompted other artists, including Ringo Starr, have announced cancellations of shows in the Tar Heel State.
NPR reported the Southern Poverty Law Center has labeled AFA as an "anti-LGBT extremist group" for taking a stand against Target's policy, which "endangers women and children by allowing men to frequent women's facilities."
The NPR article said, "The American Family Association argues that Target should have a single occupancy unisex bathroom ('for the trans community and for those who simply like using the bathroom alone') in addition to separate gender-specific restrooms."
