iRumorMill.com Determination: Hoax & a Matter of Perspective
According to National Geographic the Eastern diamondback rattlesnake is the largest of the species and can grow to a length of 8 feet. They can weigh as much as 10 pounds.
Rattlesnakes rarely grow any larger and as a writer for the livingalongsidewildlife.com website wrote, "There are no ten foot rattlesnakes...There are no eleven foot rattlesnakes. There are no fourteen foot rattlesnakes. They don't exist. Period. "
So now is the time that our readers scratch their heads and ask how is it possible for a rattlesnake to appear so big? Livingalongsidewildlife.com explained in a way that our investigation crew agrees. It is not photo manipulation, the snake was real but because it was shot in the foreground of the picture it appears much larger.
This is a photographic technique
called, "forced perspective."
Forced perspective photography can be a lot of fun and now with digital cameras, photographers can know they have done it correctly without having to wait for the labs to process the film and print the photos.
There are several examples of forced perspective but the most popular one on the internet of of someone holding the Eiffel Tower in their hand.
